Thinking you know what size someone is!
Buying clothes, especially in the wrong size is really easy to do and can sometimes have devastating effects for the receiver. It certainly doesnt qualify as a meaningful and special gift.
Men in particular come to mind with this one, browsing the lingerie department totally perplexed by the choice available. Holding up underwear their mind affirms, "Yeah that looks about right".....Nooooo! Unless you are 100% sure of the size you need to buy and the style a person likes, steer clear of clothes. You can seriously over or underestimate sizes.
Instead go for accessories that can be teamed up with many things and do not signify disasterous gift buying. For example a beautiful scarf, bag or necklace are much safer bets and make special gifts.
