Transforming Tragedy into Meaning

Here is a copy of a Press Release I wrote today:

The world as Marie Osmond once knew has ceased to exist and a new reality has suddenly engulfed her life with the death of her son last week. The idea of turning such a tragedy into something meaningful is probably far from her mind right now, but one woman has done just that.

Three years ago, Maureen Hunter was in the same situation, with the death of her own son. “Even though I was totally devastated I was determined that his death would not be for nothing, that some good would come from it.” Unable to find items, to support her grieving, from any one place, Maureen established Esdeer in 2009. She commented, “If I wanted a lovely journal, a special locket, or a book specifically related to grieving – I had to go to many different shops or websites, everything seemed to be scattered all over the place and hard to find. I wanted to change that, but I also wanted to do more.”

Whilst Maureen’s intention is that Esdeer will bring solace and comfort to those who have lost loved ones, she also wanted to provide a selection of meaningful and special gifts to demonstrate caring in everyday life. Her unique range now includes gifts that relax, inspire and comfort. Gifts to show you care, demonstrate love or say thanks. “It was important for me to give others an opportunity to show that they cared, especially to the people that matter the most to them” she says from her home in Australia. “At the same time I am honoring my son and helping others. If just one person can be helped by what I am doing, then it is all worthwhile.”

Until next time

Maureen
